Greening the Greyfields

General Objectives

 

1) Develop a 3D precinct design and assessment toolkit (Envision & ESP);

2) Build a communication platform for stakeholders on the best ways forward to achieve more effective and sustainable redevelopment in the Greyfields. These discussions require involvement from a range of stakeholders: state and local government, property developers and communities;

3) Promote the creation of a new set of strategies for urban development and urban planning, and a set of tools for spatial assessment and visualisation, for control and application of spatial information towards precinct redevelopment;

 

 

Specific Objectives

 

1) Assess the economic state for urban regeneration considering the spatial dynamics of Australian and New Zealand Cities; 

2) Develop and analyse spatial datasets and parameters determinant for housing redevelopment in Australian and New Zealand mid suburban areas, while integrating them into a demonstrator spatial decision support toolkit;

3) Incorporation of a 3D visualisation tool into the spatial planning toolkit, allowing various building typologies to be envisioned and examined.

4) Development of an assessment framework to evaluate environmental, social and economic performance of the various options of redevelopment design;

5) Application and trial of the toolkit (Envision & ESP) in community settings, to identify potential blockages to the usage of spatial data in urban development.
